Charity Brings Christmas Cheer Overseas

EUGENE, Ore. — An international charity is working to make Christmas merry for kids all over the world, and you can help.

Operation Christmas Child has spent 20 years shipping gift-filled shoe boxes to children in developing countries. It’s the largest charity project of its kind, and it serves 130 different countries.

The goal this year is to ship 14,400 boxes of goodies to kids in need.

“We don’t personally have a lot but we have so much more than what other people have and it’s a way of us giving not just of money but of time and a way to serve them,” said Dave Blanchard, Local Director of Operation Christmas Child.

If you want to help out, just fill a shoe box with things a kid would like and drop it off at Hope Chapel in Eugene. The program runs from Nov. 12 until Nov. 19.
