SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — A Springfield church is helping local families set their kids up for success this school year.
This is the second year Springfield Faith Center members hosted a school supply giveaway at Hamlin Middle School.
Students could pick up their school supplies and get their hair cut all for free.
“We wanted to serve a middle school because most people will say their worst years are in middle school, so we just wanted to care for them and a real tangible need is the school supplies,” said Jeremy Carlton and Rachel Lanning, Springfield Faith Center Pastors.
“It’s amazing. We have a community that relies on this type of help. Coming out here and putting this on for these people, I can’t say enough about it,” said Dennis Gray, Hamlin Middle School Principal.
There was also a carnival with food and games. About 100 church members set up and tear down the event.
