City Looks to Expand Overnight Parking

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield City Council is considering a proposal to expand a program for homeless people who sleep in their vehicles.

It will hold a vote Monday night on whether to allow multiple vehicles to park at properties that choose to let campers stay there.

The city’s overnight parking program currently allows one vehicle to stay at those designated spots. Councilors are voting on whether to allow up to three vehicles at a time.

The meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Springfield City Hall, located at 225 N 5th St. It is open to the public.
