City Rallies to Take Back the Night

EUGENE, Ore. — Sexual violence is prevalent across campuses nationwide–that’s why students are trying to raise awareness and protest against sexual violence.

Survivors of sexual violence and their supporters will rally together at the University of Oregon to protest continued sexual violence in their communities and around the world.

The rally at the EMU Amphitheater starts just before 6 p.m. A march will then take place, and following that there will be a speak-out where survivors of sexual assault can share their personal stories.

This is the 34th consecutive year that the ASUO Women’s Center, along with the Lane County Sexual Assault Support Service, has hosted Take Back the Night.

“I think the message we are trying to get across is that they are not alone and that there is a place and they have a voice if they choose to. And if they choose not to that’s okay, but they are not alone,” said Lisa Oland, event coordinator.

The speak-out will be held at Cozmic Pizza from 8:15 to 10:30 p.m.
