City Seeks Comment on Willamette Street

EUGENE, Ore. — The city of Eugene is holding an open house Tuesday to discuss changes to Willamette Street.

The city is planning on repaving Willamette between 19th and 24th avenues starting in June.

A big part of the project is adding bike lanes to the street. That area of Willamette Street currently has none, even though lots of bikers use it every day. The bike lanes would also mean less parking for the area.

The city wants to see what the public thinks at the open house meeting.

“This is just testing to make sure that we heard what people were saying and give them an opportunity to respond to what we’ve drawn up,” said Reed Dunbar, Associate Transportation Planner.

That discussion will take place Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. at Washington Park Cottage, located at 2025 Washington Street.
