Click It or Ticket Campaign Under Way

EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Police Department joined a statewide effort Monday to crack down on drivers and passengers not wearing their seat belts.

The Click It or Ticket campaign will run through June 2, and will include law enforcement agencies at the state, county and city levels.

Last year in Oregon, 61 people were killed in crashes who were not wearing their seat belts.

Over 1,000 children under the age of four were injured in traffic accidents in Oregon, and a third of those were not properly restrained.

The Eugene Fire Department will also be hosting a free child safety seat inspection clinic on May 30 from 4-6 p.m. at 1725 W. 2nd Ave.
