EUGENE, Ore. — The US Coast Guard closed the Coos Bay, Umpqua River, Depoe Bay and Siuslaw River bar entrances Sunday.
The captains of the Port Sector North Bend and Columbia River issued the closure of the four bar entrance due to hazardous conditions.
The closure applies to all vessels; requests to transit the bars prior to reopening must be approved by the Captain of the Port. Mariners can contact the Coast Guard on VHF-FM Channel 16.
The Coast Guard says it will re-evaluate the bar closure on an ongoing basis and will re-open the waterway as soon as the offshore weather improves.
