Commissioner Race Yet to Be Called

Jay BozievichEUGENE, Ore. — Many of the candidates in the Oregon Primary Election held watch parties Tuesday night, including those in the tightest commissioner race, western Lane County.

It was a close race between Commissioner Jay Bozievich and opponent Dawn Lesley.

Bozievich and his supporters eagerly awaited results at his watch party in Veneta. He was surrounded by family and friends and was quiet as he continued to check updates on the voting polls.

Lesley held her own watch party as well at the Wild Duck Café.

“A low turnout election is the hardest election to make any prediction on because it can take something very small to swing the election,” Bozievich said.

“I knew I had a good shot, so I guess the first numbers weren’t surprising. We’ve been knocking on doors in fact thousands of doors,” said Lesley.

Both candidates have a focus on public safety and say they worked hard to get to this day.

Commissioner Bozievich says whatever the turnout is, he hopes he can work with Dawn Lesley to improve the county.
