Committee Recommends Building Fred Meyer

EUGENE, Ore. — A screening committee says building a Fred Meyer in place of Eugene’s Civic Stadium is the best option.

The committee rated all the proposals on a 100-point scale.

The panel put a Fred Meyer lease as the top option (84.6 points), followed by the City of Eugene buying the land (65.9 points), and then a Fred Meyer purchase (63.6 points). The YMCA proposal came in fourth (59 points). Last on that list was letting Friends of Civic Stadium buy the ballparkĀ (28.7 points).

These are just recommendations. The 4J School Board will discuss the rating at its Wednesday meeting.

The stadium hasn’t been in use since 2009.
