SANTA CLARA, Ore. — St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church is offering 18 garden plots for purchase from now until February 2013. Each 14-by-20 foot plot cost $60 and is ready for planting.
“That’s what we are starting with. We are trying this out. We are seeing if this will work in Santa Cara to have a community garden. It’s the first one we’ve ever had.” said Community Garden Organizer Peter Thurston.
The community garden is a partnership between the church, the Santa Clara Community Organization and Huerto de la Familia. All money gained helps pay for tools, water and the cost to develop and maintain the site.
