JUNCTION CITY, Ore. — The Oregon State Hospital continues to take shape and now its neighbors know a little more about the project.
Hospital leaders held a meeting Thursday to talk about how the process is going. Part of the presentation included a pitch from the Lane County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illnesses.
The meeting was all about getting people familiar with the new mental hospital.
“Unfortunately, most people gain their mental image of a psychiatric hospital from the media, movies, from television and it often does not match the reality of a 21st century psychiatric hospital,” said Superintendent Greg Roberts.
Construction started earlier this year and is expected to be finished by November of next year.
The hospital expects to accept its first patients by early 2015.
