EUGENE, Ore. — The community is rallying around a teen who was critically injured when he was hit while riding his longboard in South Eugene.

Scott Svetal’s friends and family held a fundraiser Wednesday night at Papa’s Pizza. Half of the sales went to help the family pay for Scott’s medical fund.

He’s still in a coma, but there are signs of improvements. They say seeing the support helps, especially with the holiday weekend.

“You can tell he’s starting to feel better. So, he’s improving, but it’s been a really rough two weeks,” says Svetal’s friend Whitney Sweet.

Eugene police say Svetal was hurt in a collision with a car at Harris St. and 20th Ave. earlier this month.
