EUGENE, Ore. — Some local residents will compete against others to help the city go green in the Business Commute Challenge.
About 158 teams are already signed up, totaling more than 1,500 people.
The goal of the challenge is to get everyone out walking, biking or using public transit for a week to minimize our carbon footprint.
Organizers say they’re excited to get people out and active.
“We have everything all planned out. We’re ready to go. We can’t wait for it to just begin and to see the excitement,” said Marcia Maffei, Challenge Coordinator.
On Monday, the challenge kicks off its first event: a poker walkabout downtown. Nine-five are people signed up. Five slots are still available. You can register for the event anytime this week.
