Conestoga Huts to Celebrate Anniversary

EUGENE, Ore. — Happening this weekend, a huge bash will celebrate the first anniversary of conestoga huts in Eugene.

Community Supported Shelters developed them last winter for Opportunity Village Eugene. They’re a place called home for many homeless people in Lane County. Each hut costs between 250 and 500 dollars to build depending on the materials and all of the money comes from donations and small grants.

In 2013, volunteers built 29 conestoga huts. They were placed at local businesses and churches in Eugene and Springfield. If you’re interested in being a host, you’re invited to the one year anniversary celebration to learn more. It will be at Church of the Resurrection Saturday at 10 a.m.

The huts actually cost #1200.00 which includes materials and shop time. All money to build huts has been raised in the community. You can learn more about Saturday’s event at http://www.communitysupportedshelters.org. Due to the rain storm, the Conestoga Hut build from 10-1 has been postponed until Monday the 13th. But there will be representatives from C.S.S. on site from 10-1 and Lunch is at 1 followed by a presentation about the Conestoga Huts.
