Confusion Surrounds Cover Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. — With all the problems plaguing the Cover Oregon website, many people have wondered if they’ll be covered when the new year rolls around.

If you applied for coverage by December 4th, you should have received a packet in the mail to complete the enrollment process.

Cover Oregon says as long as you have that packet completed and turned in by December 15th, you will have coverage starting January 1st.

If you can’t mail your packet in by the 15th you still have options.

“There’s an online option, and the best way to access that online option it’s actually a drop box where you fill out your application or submit your application digitally is to contact a Cover Oregon representative or a community partner,” said Jason Davis, spokesperson for Lane County Public Health.

I got my application in on November 7 and still haven’t received anything from Cover Oregon. In addition, I was told my application would be prioritized because I am an OMIP member and my coverage will end on December 31. Very frustrating!

I mailed our application off the end of October, have not heard a thing. Have called twice to see what is going on and nobody knows why our application has not been processed. Just talked to them on Thursday and nobody knows anything.

In the mean time my husband had a gallbladder attack on Thanksgiving night so we spent all night in the ER, then early Friday morning he was admitted to the surgical wing and had his gallbladder removed, I have no idea how were going to pay for it.Last insurance company I talked to a couple of weeks ago wanted $1000 a month for the 2 of us.

My thought is they should quit worrying about deadlines and just start processing applications.
