SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — ODOT started its construction on parts of Interstate 5 and Beltline Monday.
The construction project aims to improve the off-ramps connecting the busy stretches of road. The Beltline bridge that goes over the freeway will also be rebuilt to accommodate taller vehicles.
While crews work, drivers will be expected to pay attention to the new speed limit.
“The speed limit on Beltline will be 35 miles an hour as they pass through the construction area, and on I-5 the speed reduction will be 50 miles an hour. These speed limit reductions will be enforced,” said Rick Little, ODOT spokesman.
ODOT says more than 97,000 cars travel the interchange between the I-5 and Beltline each day.
