Consumer Confidence at 5-Year High

(CNN) — American appear to have a better outlook of the economy.

Consumer confidence surged to a five-year high in May, according to research firm The Conference Board.

The company says its consumer confidence index jumped to 76.2–the highest reading since February 2008.

What’s fueling the increase is consumers feel more positive about current business and job market conditions and are more upbeat about job growth.
