EUGENE, Ore. – Whether you’ve been recently diagnosed or are a breast cancer survivor, there is a helpline you can call to answer any questions you may have.

The Komen Breast Cancer Care Helpline allows you to talk to specifically trained oncology social workers and specialists about how you’re feeling and how you can cope.

They can also help come up with a list of your needs and how to prioritize them.

The helpline also offers information about local organizations and resources that could provide financial assistance and other support services, like low-cost mammography resources and educational materials. They could also provide a clinical trial matching service.

“Somebody who is undergoing treatment for breast cancer, somebody who might have metastatic breast cancer, who is living with this chronic disease, there’s no cure but they are trying to improve their quality of life for as long as they have left,” said Cindy Fletcher, Komen’s director of programming.

The helpline number is 1-877 GO KOMEN, or 1-877-465-6636. It is open weekdays from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
