EUGENE, Ore. -- Lane County officials are reminding residents to cut down on holiday waste.
Electronic gifts are a big part of the holidays. Each new advance in technology brings an ever-increasing amount of hazardous electronic waste.
Donating unwanted electronics not only helps to protect the environment, it can also help provide technical job skills.
The EPA said for every one million cell phones recycled 35,000 lbs of copper, 772 lbs of silver, 75 lbs of gold, and 33 pounds of palladium can be recovered.
In Eugene, you can recycle electronics at NextStep Recycling and residential drop-off is free.
