KEZI 9 News is looking for a dynamic Sports Director in Western Oregon. This candidate will have strong leadership skills to function as part of the newsroom management team with outstanding interpersonal skills and be a team player.

The right candidate will have a college degree in journalism or related discipline, and 1+ years’ experience as a Sports Anchor/Reporter. The right candidate will also have demonstrated ability to produce and anchor both scripted and non-scripted sports programming for a variety of content distribution platforms, including KEZI 9 News, kezi.com, KEZI 9 News Mobile, Facebook, Twitter, MeTV, and other stations and platforms in the broadcast group. The candidate will be able to transport and lift video camera equipment and tripod (approx. 50 lbs.) and be proficient at shooting, writing and editing under extreme deadline pressure.

The Sports Director oversees the day-to-day operations of a broadcast sports department that covers University of Oregon, Oregon State University, Eugene Emeralds of Northwest League, and high school sports. Produce and anchor sportscasts in daily newscasts, as well as, live broadcasts of Friday Night Blitz High School Football Game of the Week, Friday Night Blitz, and Friday Night Roundball Wrap. In addition, the sports department provides one full hour of live college football commentary during football season, additional producing and anchoring of Sports Extra on Sunday nights and other sports specials as assigned. Candidates serves as a public representative of KEZI 9 News at various community functions.

This is a full-time salaried position. Must have a clean driving record A background check and pre-employment drug screen are required.
