They came outside to see two cars fully engulfed, one was a Chevy pickup and the other was a BMW.

"It sounded like an earthquake, the first one," neighbor Rick Starr said in describing the sound of the first car blowing up.

Eugene Police and Eugene-Springfield Fire responded. The fires were put out.

When KEZI 9 News arrived, we saw police investigating the charred vehicles for evidence. Initially they considered the fires suspicious. Around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, they started calling it an arson investigation.

Police said the fires appear to be intentionally set.

"There were two firebombs, one dropped in each car," Starr said.

"So you think someone set those on fire?" asked KEZI 9 News Anchor Bryan Anderson

"Definitely," Starr responded.
