EUGENE, Ore. -- Thousands of men and women joined the second annual Women’s March for Action in Eugene.

The crowds gathered at the Federal Court House at 1:00 p.m. for a rally.

Last year, the first march took place following President Trump’s election into office. Organizers said the purpose of the march this year, is to highlight the progress being made in stopping issues that affect women, such as sexual harassment.

Many of the participants in the march said this was their second year supporting the cause.

One man attended the march with his sons.

“I supported the Women’s March last time, “said Miller. “I think it’s really neat to see this level of community involvement.”

Miller said that while the Women’s March for Action does not necessarily solve issues, it does help raise awareness about them.

Some participants said seeing the crowds raise their voices for action made them inspired and empowered.

Other participants said frustration is what led them to join the millions of people marching nationwide.

Lauren Waldbridge said this was her second year participating.

“I’m angry. I’m angry about a lot of things," she said. “I’m angry that it’s only recently that sexual abuse survivor victims are taken seriously.”

Waldbridge said her reason for marching was to give people in marginalized communities a space where they feel welcome.

Following the march, people gathered at Whirled Pies for food and entertainment.
