EUGENE, Ore, -- A tradition at Max's Tavern, located near the University of Oregon, is coming to an end. At least for the immediate future, visitors will no longer be allowed to stand on benches and sing songs as the bar closes.

The bar said it's sorry to inform visitors of their decision, but bad behavior has forced them to take action.

"A few weeks ago someone threw a piece of glassware and knocked someone unconscious," according to its Facebook page. "We are done with this. There is no more standing on the benches whatsoever. The behavior the last few years has been atrocious. We cannot operate in this manner anymore. Thank You For Your Understanding."

University of Oregon student and Max's regular Jake Stanford said he's sad to see the tradition go.

"I'm pretty bummed, Max's is my favorite bar and standing on the tables and singing along at the end of the night is something I love to do," said Stanford. "So it's kind of a bummer to see that go, I hope to see it come back soon."
