The woman pulled over on the Market Street on-ramp southbound because her car ran out of gas and was waiting for her father, troopers said.

They said a man who she didn't know stopped and offered to help but she declined. Troopers said the man grabbed her arm and tried to pull her towards her pickup.

The woman was able to get away when someone drove by and shouted at the man, police said. The man then let go, ran into his pickup and sped off.

The suspect is described as a white man with a medium build who stands between 5-feet 9-inches to 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighs 200 pounds. State police said he has dark brown hair and was wearing a dark colored t-shirt, jeans, and athletic shoes at the time of the attempted kidnap.

Troopers said the man was driving a dark blue or black standard cab pickup 4X4 pickup truck.

They are also looking to find the driver who shouted at the man and helped the woman escape.

If anyone has any information about this suspect or saw the incident, they are asked to contact the Oregon State Police Northern Command Center at (503) 375-3555 or *OSP from your mobile phone and reference case number SP18-048588.
