SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A pedestrian is in the hospital with life threatening injuries, after being hit by a sedan in Springfield.
Police said it happened shortly before 1:30 Sunday morning. They said the driver was traveling east on Main St. when it struck the pedestrian.
They said the driver had the right of way and that the pedestrian was improperly positioned in the roadway. Police also said the pedestrian had apparently stopped moving before being hit.
Officers said the driver stopped to help and is cooperating.
They said neither speed nor alcohol appear to be a contributing factor for the driver, but said alcohol does appear to be a contributing factor for the pedestrian.
