WINSTON, Ore. -- An 11-year-old boy was arrested after police said he wrote a threatening message on a wall at a Douglas County elementary school.
Winston police said the sixth grader wrote on the bathroom wall of a "shoot out" that was going to happen on March 12th, 2018. The message did not threaten a specific person and was found by staff at McGovern Elementary School.
Police said they identified the student on Tuesday. He was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct in the first degree and was released to his parents.
Officials said the student will also be facing consequences from the school.
Police said the threat was not deemed credible and the threat was not intended to be carried out. They said although the message was deemed a prank, school officials and the police department will continue to be vigilant.
They said there is no current threat to the school or its students.
