BROWNSVILLE, Ore. – The population of Brownsville has gone from less than 2,000 to 20,000 overnight.

The Bi-Mart Willamette Country Music Festival is underway in the Linn County town, now in its 11th year.

“The people that come from all over the world on a regular basis to come out and enjoy how beautiful Oregon is, and people enjoying people, that’s become almost as big as the country music,” said Don Leber, the vice president of advertising and marketing with Bi-Mart. “It’s just an entity unto itself.”

Barring a last-minute surprise or change of heart, this will be the festival’s final year in Brownsville.

Since a new venue hasn’t been locked up for next year, festival organizers urge attendees to register on what they call a loyalty link.

When the new location has been secured, those registered will be notified to get the first opportunity to renew their seats for 2019.

There are changes for next year’s seating with the addition of standing room only.

“They’re going to have standing room only which will be called platinum,” Leber said. “So they’ll have platinum standing, reserved, and no premium general admission, so general admission will actually be closer.”

VIP seating will also be tiered next year, so ticketholders will pay more or less depending on how close they sit to the stage.

The Bi-Mart Willamette Country Music Festival kicks off Thursday evening with Alabama headlining. Eric Church will play Friday, Lady Antebellum will play Saturday and Kid Rock will headline Sunday.
