EUGENE, Ore. -- Bi-Mart has announced that it will be changing their gun sales policy following the national debate regarding firearms sales.

The company said they will only be selling guns and ammunition to those over the age of 21.

"We agree with many policy makers and our peers that increasing the age limit to 21, in order to purchase a firearm, is a step in the right direction," Bi-Mart said in a news release. "In support, Bi-Mart and Cascade Farm and Outdoor stores, a division of Bi-Mart, will only sell guns and ammunition to those 21 or older that meet state and federal requirements for purchasing firearms."

Bi-Mart said they carry a mix of shooting sport and hunting products but don't sell assault-type weapons, and will not in the future.

The company said they are committed to serving and caring about its customers, and that extends to the products they sell and whom they sell them to.

They said they support the responsible sale and use of firearms but the policy change is due to their core values.

Bi-Mart said they will "continue to make choices based on what we think is best for our members and the communities we serve."
