EUGENE, Ore -- According to the Lane County Board of Elections office, the last day to mail in ballots for the January Special Election is Wednesday, January 17 to make sure your vote gets counted.
Measure 101, or the healthcare vote, is the only measure on the ballot. Oregonians are voting on whether or not there should be a tax on insurance companies in some hospitals to help pay for Medicaid.
If you mail in your ballot, remember to put a stamp on the envelope and sign your ballot, too.
As of Thursday morning, in Lane County, 11 percent of registered voters have mailed in their ballots so far. Seventy-five thousand ballots were sent to voters in Douglas County alone and 9 percent of ballots have been mailed in. In Coos County, 8 percent of voters have returned their ballots and in Benton County, 14 percent of voters have turned in their ballots.
