PORTLAND, Ore. -- The bus driver who was stabbed on a Greyhound bus headed from Portland, Oregon to Boise, Idaho is speaking out.
Clint Lawson has been driving for Greyhound for more than 15 years. In that time, he said he has never come close to something like this.
Lawson said he knows it was a close call. He was attacked by a passenger as he drove east on I-84 but he managed to steer the bus to safety.
Lawson is opening up about the unprovoked attack.
"I still can't get over what happened," he said. "It's worn me down."
He said Robert Moran Vasquez broke through the plexiglass security barrier and attacked him.
"He was fighting me and yelling 'I'm going to kill you'," he added. "Physically, I'm iffy. Emotionally and mentally, I'm really screwed up right now."
He hopes to stay with Greyhound but perhaps in a management role.
