FLORENCE, Ore. -- Florence did not make it to the Top 5 Towns to be featured on the hit TV program, Small Business Revolution, Main Street.
The Small Business Revolution (SBR) crew announced the Top 5 Towns on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 a.m. (pst). KEZI 9 News was there for the early morning viewing party at River Roasters in Old Town.
The cities that were chosen to move onto the Top 5 include: Alton, IL, Amesbury, MA, Bastrop, TX, Martinez, CA and Silom Springs, AK.
The City of Florence was one of only two towns that made it to the Top 10 on the entire west coast, with the other being Martinez California. The community of Florence was hoping to mobilize the Pacific Northwest for their cause.
If the City of Florence had been chosen to be featured in The Small Business Revolution Main Street Season 3, the Florence community would have received $500,000 in downtown revitalization and be featured in an eight-part series that would stream on Hulu.
Business owners in the area are still feeling like this whole experience was a positive one for Florence. They said the crews coming into the city created good exposure for them and gave them motivation to grow in the way they do business.
"Bringing the crews into Florence, and having them look around and take a look at our city was good for Florence. And that's what we're all about, is things that are good for Florence," said John Cable, owner of the Bridgeport Market.
The TV crew will be coming back to do a business workshop with the city.
City officials said they'll also be diving into ReVision Florence, a new streetscape plan for the city.
