Since 2010, OSU has hosted a drive for students on campus to donate items they no longer need.

This year, the university has teamed up with the Grace Lutheran Church to hold a donation drive both on and off campus.

Organizers are accepting everything from food to clothing, furniture and anything else students can't take with them. They said the items will go to help local nonprofits and other charity organizations and will ultimately help reduce the amount of waste in the landfill.

"Thank you so much for taking the time to donate,” said Andrea Norris with Campus Recycling and Surplus Property. “We understand that it is stressful to have to be responsible for taking your final exams and sorting out what you don't need and packing and cleaning your room or your apartment. It's a lot at once. So we appreciate just taking that small extra step, and we hope we make it really easy for them."

Norris said they're hoping to collect 30,000 pounds of donated items. Last year, they brought in about 36,000 pounds.

On Friday, June 15, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., they will have an off-campus donation drop-off point located in the parking lot of the Grace Lutheran Church.

Norris said they appreciate everyone that donated to their cause and helped volunteer. The drive ends Friday at 5 p.m at the on-campus drop-off point.
