Toxicology professor A. Morrie Craig was fired on the grounds of bullying and sexual harassment.

A spokesperson said this is the first time in school history a termination has appealed in front of the board.

While they couldn't give any specific details, he told KEZI the school takes harassment claims seriously, regardless of who's involved.

“We are firmly opposed to those kinds of behaviors. Whether they involve students on students, or a faculty member with students or another employee,” Steve Clark said. "We're all about the safety of our community. That's number one. You cannot educate, teach, or do research unless you're safe. So the policies that we have that prohibit sexual harassment, that prohibit bullying, are applied to all of our university."

Clark said the board will have the option to deny the appeal, refer the matter back to the university, or hold another hearing.

A decision is expected Monday afternoon.
