Police do not encourage people to get involved in crimes but said they are thankful for the Good Samaritan's actions.

The attempted robbery happened around 10:40 p.m. at the Dari Mart on B St. and Pioneer Parkway West.

Police said a masked man had a gun when he went inside the Dari Mart and demanded cash. While the employees were following the suspect's directions, a witness tackled him to the ground. Police said there was a struggle before the suspect ran out of the store.

KEZI spoke to Randall Abadilla who lives near the Dari Mart. He said things like this happen too often, so he makes sure his family is doing what they can to stay safe.

"I'm definitely scared, always calling to check in, communication is really big in our house," said Abadilla. "We keep all of our doors locked, we have big large breed dog just kind of as a safety precaution. So definitely there's always that thought and almost paranoia at all times."

Police are still looking for the suspect. They said he was wearing dark pants, a black tank top, and a black mask.

Police are not releasing the name of the good Samaritan.
