SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- A Springfield boy who helped his neighbors pick up trash cans that had blown over in the wind was pleasantly surprised Friday morning.
Sanipac Account Manager Aaron Donley said his drivers told him about Colby Marchant's good deed after seeing it on KEZI 9 News. He said he wanted to thank Colby for a job well done.
"[I thought] we need to reach out to this young man to say 'thank you' for the hard work he has done to help us out," Donley said. "I thought we might have the truck out here and give him some goodies."
Colby said he was surprised to see Sanipac outside his door.
"I'm just like 'what is happening? Do I even deserve this stuff? What is this all for? I was just picking up a little bit of garbage'," he said.
Colby said he wasn't expecting to get a bag full of goodies or being allowed to sit in the truck.
"I was just thinking they'd give me a hat."
Donley said he is grateful for Colby's help picking up the trash cans and cleaning up the spilled garbage.
"If Colby ever wants a job, just let us know. I'm sure we can find an opening out there."
Donley said Colby's actions helped his drivers get home at a reasonable time.
