EUGENE, Ore,-- Three Eugene high schools teamed up with Bags of Love to help children in crisis.
Bags of Love is a non-profit that makes bags for children in need. The bags include clothes, toiletries, blankets, toys and school supplies. They work with 52 different agencies, and last year they helped over 2,000 children and families.
Becky Stenzel, the executive director, said because of the need in the community every donation helps.
Students at Eugene International High Schools recently started collecting donations to help make a difference. Stenzel said she is excited about working with the high schools.
"We love it when we have this opportunity to talk to young people about what we are doing and hopefully get them excited about the whole idea of supporting non-profits and being more aware of kids and families who are struggling in our community," Stenzel said.
If you would like to donate, Stenzel said they are in need of school supplies, toiletries, new socks and underwear, pajamas and jeans. Donations can be dropped off at the Bags of Love warehouse on Commercial Street in Eugene.
