happening today -- a murder case is back in court. jeremy milutin is facing charges for killing his girlfriend, cheryl hart. we spoke to the hart's mother on the phone. sheri melling says her daughter was a victim of an abusive and violent relationship. she's hoping cheryl's story will help others in similar situations "get out" before it's too late. cheryl went missing in eugene on august 4th, 20-16. she was last seen with her boyfriend, 36-year-old jeremy milutin. he was found and arrested near klamath falls for driving a stolen vehicle. cheryl's body was found four months later on december 9th in a remote, wooded area in klamath county. melling says she knew that milutin was dangerous for her daughter. sherri melling / cheryl hart's mother: "it was her giving in and him just separating her from the family. i mean, i told her flat out, many times, 'he will kill you.' i said it to his mother. i said, 'he will kill her.' and that's what happened." melling says she hopes milutin gets the maximum sentence possible. the lane county district attorney says they're filing a number of charges against milutin... including murder. today's court appearance is a pre-trial conference. the actual trial will begin january 30th. but melling says she, her mom, and her sister will be there every step
