6" we're following developing news out of the state's capital tonight? where senator jeff kruse of roseburg just resigned. thanks for joining us. i'm matt templeman. renee mccullough has the evening off. but kruse is still denying the sexual misconduct allegations against him. kezi 9 news anchor bob schaper joins us live in the studio to break down what we do know. bob? matt? kruse announced his resignation just about an hour ago. this comes after an independent investigation was released tuesday that concluded he engaged in a long standing pattern of inappropriate conduct in the capitol? including hugging and touching women. today kruse issued a statement denying that he harassed his female colleagues regrets that he won't have the opportunity to defend himself before the senate conduct committee. but he says he's resigning so his colleagues can serve oregonians without distractions. kruse says serving coos, douglas, josephine and jackson counties has been the greatest honor yesterday... kruse had promised to stay out of the capitol until the conduct committee met? but earlier today even some republicans were saying the allegations? if true? were unacceptable. adding to the pressure.... a group called "basic rights oregon" joined several other groups in a petition and phone campaign to pressure lawmakers to kick kruse out immediately. looking forward.... county commissioners will pick kruse's replacement. by law... they're required to select a republican. guys... back to
