Cool & Comfortable Labor Day Weekend

Chief Meteorologist Justin Stapleton‘s Daily Forecast Discussion:

The latest information on the fire and associated evacuations is hereDeception Complex

Nice to see the cooler air finally arrive in time for the start to the holiday weekend. Highs today only pushed into the low 80s today, 60s and 70s in the mountains and at the coast. Overnight, the clouds are back at the coast for the morning and some spreading inland for the AM hours. Tomorrow, there’s the first chance for some light showers as a trough of low pressure starts to move across the Northwest.

Rain chances won’t be very strong, mainly 20% or less for the inland valleys, probably closer to 30-40% at the coast and in the mountains. Either way, none of the showers will be that strong either. But both the Beaver home opener at 1pm and later that evening at Autzen for the Ducks at 7:30 might see an occasional light sprinkle.

By the weekend, the clouds will get thicker at the coast as well. Coastal locales might be dealing with some patchy drizzle just about each day of the holiday weekend. Heading into the mountains for camping this weekend will be cloudy, cooler with highs in the upper 60s and lows falling into the low 40s. So make sure you’ve got some layers for the chilly overnights.

High pressure moves in again for next week, bumping highs back into the 80s and early peeks later in the week show a dry start to the school year and maybe trying to flirt with 90 again by Friday which would tie us for the hottest summer on record!

Have a great weekend!
