Truly responsible parents don’t have children who just “go missing”, they watch them like a hawk. A sad story indeed, but the blame falls squarely on the shoulders of those who should have watched over the boy and did not, and now they will have to bear their burden for the rest of their lives. How could have this tradegy happened? A simple case of parental neglect.

  2. Jeff says:

I think the mother feels bad enough… I guess you are perfect and have never made any mistakes… The rest of us humans do error and sometimes those errors are tragic, but they are not necessarily neglect. My deepest sympathies go out to the mother and family of this child, and shame on anyone making a judgment on this tragedy without knowing all the facts.

  3. Suzan says:

“They watch them like a hawk”??? The boy was 8, not two. Think about what you were like as an 8 year old. I was climbing trees, wading in creeks, and building skunk cabbage forts. This is a horrible tragedy, yes, but to call it simple parental neglect is a gross overstatement. Perhaps you’d rather the boy had a helicopter parent who never let him out of his/her sight, or better yet, if he just sat on the couch and played video games all day.
