CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Center Against Rape and Domestic Violence (CARDV) received a large donation from a Corvallis business this month.
Many Hands Trading, a gift store in downtown Corvallis, donated over $2,000 to CARDV after a busy shopping day on Dec. 11. The store donated 25% of its proceeds to the organization. Many Hands Trading donates to a local non-profit once a month, one sale at a time. CARDV says it couldn’t be more grateful for the support.
“Two thousand dollars can go a long way here,” said CARDV’s Executive Director, Letetia Wilson. “We have a 24-hour hotline. Every single day of the year, that hotline is answered by staff or volunteers. And there are two people actually on the hotline. One person answering it, and one person to support them in case there’s a crisis or if we have to respond somewhere.”
Wilson says CARDV answers 7,000-8,000 calls a year from people in Linn and Benton Counties needing help.
“Fundraisers in general help us potentially expand our services,” Wilson said. “So the money that is coming in allows us to be able to help more survivors than we’re able to help now.
Wilson says she hopes the organization will be able to continue raising funds to install an additional phone line so more than one person can call at the same time.
