Corvallis Car Theft Suspect Caught

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Police arrested a car suspect after the victim chased him down.

Police say 31-year-old Anthony Needham, of Albany, stole a car in the alley north of NW Tyler Avenue early Sunday evening.

The car was still running at the time he found it. When he got inside and tried to drive off, he got stuck on some concrete parking bumpers. When the car’s owner got there, Needham ran away, so she chased after him in her car while her friend called police.

The woman caught Needham in the 400 block of NW 25th Street, and some members from a nearby fraternity helped keep him there until police arrived.

Needham was arrested and lodged at the Benton County Jail on several charges, including Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle, Criminal Mischief II and Fail to Perform Duties of a Driver. He also had a misdemeanor warrant for his arrest for Failure to Appear II.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Sgt. Jeff Marr at (541) 766-6729 ext. 5127.
