CORVALLIS, Ore. — Monday was a night of celebration for the Corvallis Knights baseball team after winning the West Coast League championship game.
The Knights beat the Wenatchee AppleSox 1-0, clinching the series at Goss Stadium.
Fans say they couldn’t be more excited that their team won its third championship in seven years.
One fan, whose family is hosting two of the Knights players, Casey Bloomquist and Peter Van Gansen, says the last out of the game was a special moment.
“The guys who’re staying with us – their parents were here,” said Ethan Hurt, a Knights fan. “And I just saw the look on Peter Van Gansen’s mom’s face and it was priceless. It was amazing.”
Players come from all over the country to play baseball in Corvallis over the summer, and some of them stay with host families. Hurt says the players staying with his family are leaving Wednesday morning.
“They’ve been two big brothers for me this summer, so it’ll be kind of hard to let them go,” Hurt said.
