UPDATE (6:25 p.m. Tuesday): Police told KEZI 9 News that someone in Monroe called the Lane County Sheriff’s Office about finding Mark Ponte on Highpass Road just south of Monroe. Corvallis PD is on its way to pick him up. They’re not sure yet how he got there, but they say he is safe.
UPDATE (6:08 p.m.): Police have located Ponte. He is now safe.
CORVALLIS, Ore. — The Corvallis Police Department needs help finding 57-year-old Mark Ponte, who has Alzheimer’s.
He was last seen wearing jeans and a green fleece zip-up jacket. Police say Ponte has an unusual walk due to a past surgical procedure. They say he shuffles to where he does not put one foot in front of the other.
Police say he left his residence in the 1500 block of NW 13th Street Monday morning.
