Corvallis Seeks Property Tax Increase

CORVALLIS, Ore. — Two issues will appear on the November ballot for this year’s special election.

The first seeks approval of an 11-acre annexation into the city. The site is north of Nash Avenue between southwest 49th and 53rd streets.

Also at issue is a five-year increase in the property tax rate. If approved the money would be used for fire prevention services, three additional police officers, a school resource officer and more.

The cost to taxpayers would be 81 cents per $1,000 of assessed value. The current levy is 45 cents.
