Cottage Grove Man Facing Murder Charges

EUGENE, Ore. — The search for a missing Beaverton woman is over, and now her ex-boyfriend is facing charges for her murder.

David Bowen was in the Lane County Jail Thursday to face charges of murder, abusing a corpse, and tampering with evidence.

Friends and family of Tammy Borda were there. They say they were told Thursday afternoon that Tammy was dead.

But Cottage Grove Police and the Lane County District Attorney are still not releasing any information about this case, except Bowen is facing those three charges related to her murder.

Friends say they had a feeling Bowen did something to Borda after she went to his home while visiting family in Cottage Grove over the Thanksgiving holiday.

“We all tried to gather as many people as we could from Cottage Grove, friends and family and anybody that was close to her just so we could all stand in there and Dave could look at every one of us and know what he took from us,” said Cottage Grove residents Jasmine Grimes and Breana Swenson.

Bowen didn’t enter a plea, and his court date was pushed back.

The Cottage Grove police chief says her body was not found at Bowen’s house and that the body was found Thursday, the same day Bowen was arrested. He’ll be back in court on Monday at 1:30 p.m.

An online fund has been set up for Borda’s family to help pay for expenses related to her death and/or the investigation. Click here for more information.
