Cottage Grove Plans Football Tailgate

EUGENE, Ore. — With the Oregon Ducks on the road, high school football invades Autzen Stadium on Saturday, and Cottage Grove football fans are looking to party.

Cottage Grove Booster Club members say Saturday’s semi-final match-up with North Bend is a big deal in their small town. It’s the team’s first appearance in the semi-finals since 1945, and they want to celebrate.

Booster club members call themselves CGHS Pigskin Parents, and they’re planning a big tailgate party before the game, hoping they have even more to celebrate afterwards.

“We wanted to party like a small town, we wanted to have a celebration like a small town would. So we’re having a tailgate party potluck style for anybody who wants to come and bring a dish,” said Lisa Hibbard, CGHS Booster Club Leader.

The tailgate is from 2-5 p.m. in the east parking lot at Autzen Stadium. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.

Hibbard says they’re not sure how many people will show up, but about 1,000 have seen the invitation on Facebook. Everyone is welcome to attend.
