COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. — The Cottage Grove Speedway, which has been dubbed the hub for northwest racing by staff and community members, re-opened to the public Saturday. It was shut down last month for code violations, but has since been in the hands of new owners and dedicated volunteers. After loads of clean-up, Managers say city officials think they’re right on track with improvements, so the speedway was given the go-ahead.
“Overwhelming support, overwhelming excitement and overjoy of just the track being open. Closed and racetrack, it doesn’t go good together,” said Ben Deatherage, Publicist for the Cottage Grove Speedway.
Staff say it will take about a year for everything to look up to speed, but these last few weeks the track and other areas have managed to get an impressive makeover.
