Cottage Grove Woman Hit and Killed

COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. — Police have released the name of the woman who was hit and killed by a car Monday afternoon.

It happened at 3:18 p.m. in the 74000 block of London Road, south of Cottage Grove Lake.

That’s where investigators say a woman was standing at the end of her driveway near her mailbox when a car heading south has crossed the northbound lane, veered off the road onto the shoulder and hit her.

Ramonda J. Berg, 60, of Cottage Grove, died at the scene.

“She was basically on the side of the road here. Looks like she was maybe putting her garbage can out when the suspect vehicle veered off the side of the road and basically ran her over,” said Lt. Rob Edwards, Oregon State Police.

Police say the driver kept going, but officers were able to track down the vehicle and the driver. No arrest has been made.

At this point, investigators say alcohol was not a factor in the deadly crash.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or has any information about the incident is asked to call OSP Detective Jamin Van Meter at 541-726-2536 x241.
