EUGENE, Ore. – Eugene City Council moved to consider the re-designation of a park just off Grand Cayman Drive.
The property is currently listed as a community park with lighted sports fields, but representatives from the Northeast Neighbors Association want to change that. They want the council to look into making it just a neighborhood park.
“It’s a very legitimate question to look at, but it’s tied into things that are citywide including the provision of sports fields and sport complexes across the city and we prefer not to look at it in isolation,” said Neil Bjorklund, Parks and Open Space Planning Manager.
Neighbors say they prefer a neighborhood park to a potential sports field, which they say could bring a lot of unwanted noise and traffic.
